Holistic Massage is a term used for treating you as a whole, physically, mentally and emotionally. As an individual your medical history will be discussed and the massage will not just treat the symptoms, but find out the cause. The aim is to rebalance the body so it achieves balance.
The benefits of Holistic Massage
The benefits are for both the mind and body. How often would you lie down for an hour, close your eyes and unwind. Having some ‘me’ time away from home, the telephone, children has a definite restorative effect.
Massage helps tight muscles learn to relax and this, combined with strokes to aid lymphatic drainage, helps to release toxins. The benefits can be felt by all ages, backgrounds and lifestyles. In particular, stress affects different people in a different ways, physically and emotionally. Stiffness and soreness in muscles can be due to a wide range of physical factors carrying too much shopping, to poor posture through being seated at a desk all day or a long time behind the steering wheel. The causes are not always physical however. Emotional tension and the day to day stresses that life throws at us can manifest in headaches caused by a stiff neck and shoulders and the body generally tensing up in response to stress, especially if there is not the opportunity to release.

What happens during a Holistic Massage treatment
During your first massage and full consultation will be taken, followed by your massage.
I use a combination of Swedish massage, shiatsu and passive exercises and stretches during every treatment. Each massage is specific to you, and feedback will be sought to ensure that the pressure given is comfortable and not painful.
Shiatsu – The shiatsu element of the massage helps to rebalance the energy in your body. A range of techniques are used, from gentle holding, rocking and slow strong stretching.
